Andalusia's oldest ultra loops through Spain's white village heartland
The 100 Millas Sierras del Bandolero is Andalusia's oldest ultramarathon — a 160km loop starting and finishing in Prado del Rey, deep in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. The course weaves through limestone karst, ancient mule tracks, and a chain of white-washed mountain villages spanning the provinces of Cádiz and Málaga, including Villaluenga del Rosario, Ronda, Benaoján, Cortes de la Frontera, and Grazalema. Set in Spain's wettest mountain region, March conditions bring the full spectrum from sunshine to cold rain and wind. Runners navigate 14 aid stations in semi-autosufficiency, carrying mandatory gear and managing their own nutrition between checkpoints. A UTMB Index qualifier awarding 5 points, it draws a competitive field of Spanish and international ultra runners to one of southern Europe's most spectacular mountain playgrounds.
