What Makes It Great

The Blackall50 covers 50 kilometres of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk, gaining 1,580 metres through lush subtropical forest and rolling ridgelines. Runners experience Mapleton Falls, the Gheerulla Valley's creekside vegetation, and the memorable 'Gav's Gut Buster' climb on Gheerulla Bluff with Mary Valley views. Starting and finishing at QCCC Mapleton, the route shares the core 50km of the 100km course. Generous cutoffs (23.5 hours) make this accessible to experienced runners and adventurous first-timers alike, though the October Queensland heat demands careful pacing and hydration. Mandatory headlamp and hi-vis vest required from 3pm for any runners still on course.
