The harder half of the 100 km course — big climbs, jungle trails, and Kiulu Valley views
The 55 km event covers the first (blue) loop of the 100 km course — generally considered the harder half, with the biggest climbs and most technical sections. Starting with the same route as the 30 km, it diverges to tackle the major ascent past Bukit Tikolod with sweeping ridgeline views, then descends through remote villages before returning to the Kiulu finish. Runners encounter the same tropical heat, river crossings, and narrow jungle trails as the 100 km field, but complete the circuit in daylight.
