Pacer Rules

No Pacers Allowed

Crew Rules

  • Crew access permitted at cpB (Orange House, 23.9261 121.0283) and cpD (Zhong Zheng Church, 23.9036 120.9934). cpD is the best support point for 104km runners and is where the drop bag is delivered.
  • Crew NOT permitted at cpA (Tea Farm) or cpC (Forest House) — these require 4WD vehicle access and blocking the only access road could endanger emergency rescue operations.
Weather

Late November in Puli and the surrounding Nantou mountains brings cool, generally stable conditions. Daytime temperatures near the start at 500m elevation run 15–20°C, but mountain sections reach 1500–2000m where it is significantly colder. Nights drop below 10°C and can approach freezing at higher elevations. With a 4AM start, 104km runners spend multiple hours in cold darkness before dawn. A waterproof jacket is mandatory; a mid-layer in the cpD drop bag is strongly recommended for slower runners. The post-typhoon November season is drier than summer, but mountain weather can change rapidly. Open ridgeline sections between cpB and the upper course have significant UV exposure during mid-race daylight hours.

Cold/Hypothermia Risk

Temperatures drop well below 10°C at elevation overnight. Waterproof jacket mandatory; mid-layer recommended in cpD drop bag for slower runners.

High UV Exposure

Exposed ridgeline sections in mid-course have significant sun exposure; sunscreen and hat recommended.

Rapid Weather Changes

Mountain conditions can change rapidly; race-day weather in Puli does not reflect conditions at elevation.
