100km from Sai Kung's coast to Hong Kong's highest peak — a city-to-summit epic
The flagship HK100 traverses 100km from Pak Tam Chung in Sai Kung west to Tai Mo Shan (957m), Hong Kong's highest peak. The first half winds around the stunning Sai Kung coast — passing UNESCO Global Geopark rock formations, remote beaches, and ancient fishing villages. The second half turns inland with relentless climbing: behind Lion Rock with sweeping Kowloon city views, through Shing Mun's macaque-inhabited trails, and over Needle Hill and Grassy Hill before the final push to Tai Mo Shan. Most of the 5,000m of climbing is concentrated in the back half, demanding smart pacing and strong finishing ability. Almost all runners cover at least some of the course in darkness.
