Self-navigated point-to-point across South Africa's Witteberg — no markings, full night, one shot
A self-supported, self-navigated mountain ultra traversing the full length of the Witteberg range in Eastern Cape, South Africa. Starting at dawn in the highland town of Lady Grey and finishing at Wartrail Country Club, the course covers nearly 100km of remote ridgeline with over 4,500m of elevation gain. Runners navigate entirely by GPS with no course markings, crossing Dragon's Back ridge, climbing The Wall (400m ascent in 2.5km), and spending a full night on the exposed mountain. The sole crew access point is at Balloch Cave at 56km, making precise fueling and gear management essential across a 30-hour window.
