What Makes It Great

Shares the opening Witteberg ridgeline with the 100KM, running self-navigated from Lady Grey through Dragon's Back and The Wall to Balloch Cave at 56km, then directly down to Wartrail. Despite finishing 35km shorter, the 65KM carries the same mountain character — remote, unmarked, partially nocturnal — earning it the nickname 'The Gateway.' Most runners finish after dark, and the full compulsory gear list applies. Drop bag and crew access is available only at Balloch.
