What Makes It Great

The Kerry Way Ultra Nite covers the final 101km of the Kerry Way route from Dromid (near Waterville) to Killarney, starting at 9pm Friday evening and finishing at the Killarney Racecourse on Saturday. Runners tackle the entire route in darkness and into the morning, passing through remote coastal terrain and the International Dark Sky Reserve — officially the darkest area in the Northern Hemisphere. Self-sufficient like the main Ultra, with crew stops at four points and emergency water only. The UltraNite is also a Western States Endurance Run qualifying race for finishers within 20 hours.
