A winter loop through Slovakia's Považský Inovec mountains, starting and finishing under Trenčín Castle
Letecká stovka is a winter mountain ultramarathon that traverses the Považský Inovec and Strážovské vrchy mountain ranges in western Slovakia, starting and finishing in the historic city of Trenčín beneath its medieval castle. Runners follow marked tourist trails along an almost entirely loop course, climbing through forested ridges and remote mountain chalets before summiting Inovec at 1042 m. Held in early March, the race is a genuine winter challenge: organizers require a waterproof jacket, headlamp, and emergency foil as mandatory gear, and past editions have seen snow, freezing rain, and overnight temperatures well below zero. Founded in 2012 by Vlado Švancár and revived in 2023 under Slovak Ultra Trail after a COVID-era hiatus, it has grown into one of Slovakia's most beloved community trail events — the 2026 field of 250 sold out in just 16 hours.
