A night-start traverse of Mallorca's full UNESCO mountain spine to the sea
A 138-kilometer point-to-point traverse of Mallorca's Serra de Tramuntana, the island's mountainous spine and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Beginning at night from the coastal village of Estellencs, the course follows the ancient Camí des Correu through a procession of medieval villages—Esporles, Valldemossa, Bunyola, Orient, Alaró, Fornalutx—and passes landmarks including the Tossals Verds hut, the Lluc Sanctuary, and the Cúber reservoir before descending to the sea at Port de Sóller. Cobbled stone paths, limestone ridges, holm oak forests, and dry-stone walls define the terrain, with the summit of Puig Major, Mallorca's highest peak, visible from the upper sections. With 5,350 meters of gain and a 30h30m cutoff, this is an expedition-grade ultra through some of the Mediterranean's most storied mountain landscapes.

The race takes place in late October in Mallorca's Serra de Tramuntana mountains. The Mediterranean climate brings mild autumnal conditions with daytime temperatures of 15–20°C at lower elevations, dropping to 8–12°C overnight and significantly colder at altitude. The SDT's 22:00 start means the first several hours are in the coldest part of the day. Autumn is also Mallorca's most volatile weather season: Mediterranean storm systems (gota fría) can sweep in rapidly, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and sharply deteriorating conditions on exposed ridgelines. The mandatory gear list—full waterproof jacket with taped seams, waterproof trousers, thermal layers, gloves—reflects the genuine risk of severe weather. Some editions enjoy clear skies and calm conditions throughout; others have required real mountain survival skills.
