56km from Boaventura through Madeira's high mountain core, finishing on the Atlantic coast
Beginning in the hillside village of Boaventura on Madeira's north coast, the MIUT Discover takes on 56 kilometres and nearly 2,800 metres of gain through the island's dramatic interior. The route climbs the historic Vereda do Urzal — one of the key north-to-south mountain paths — to the central massif, then joins the MIUT Legend course to summit Pico Ruivo and Pico do Areeiro. A long descending second half follows levada trails and coastal cliff paths to the finish in Machico.
