Two punishing loops through Central Otago's high country with 6,350m of climbing
Two loops across Northburn Station's high country, covering roughly 100km with approximately 6,350m of cumulative gain. The first loop (50km, 2,600m gain) climbs from the 200m start to nearly 1,660m, sharing terrain with all longer-distance runners. The second loop (50km, 3,750m) adds the notorious Death Climb before returning via the TW mountain aid station. The course is predominantly steep 4WD tracks and rocky ridgeline terrain — dry and fast on a good day, brutal in a southerly. One mid-course aid station per loop plus crew access at the 50km mark.
