The first loop of Northburn — 50km to the top of New Zealand and back
A single loop through Northburn Station's high country, covering 50km with 2,600m of climbing from the 200m start to nearly 1,660m — close to the geographic centre of New Zealand. The course follows the same first loop as the 100km and 100 miler competitors: steep 4WD tracks, rocky ridgelines, exposed fence-line traverses, and alpine stream crossings. One mid-course aid station. Full mandatory gear is required throughout. The 'entry level' way to experience Northburn — though this is no ordinary 50K.
