40K through the southern Marão flank and Aboboreira megalithic plateau
The TM 40K starts in the parish of Teixeira (Baião) and climbs immediately into the Marão mountain range, cresting Seixinhos for sweeping panoramas before descending into the secluded mountain village of Mafómedes. The route then passes through Travanca do Monte — the refuge of poet Teixeira de Pascoaes — traverses the prehistoric Aboboreira plateau with its megalithic monuments, and follows the Goiva waterfalls into Amarante. Tough, beautiful, and very accessible for mountain runners.
