What Makes It Great

Ultra-Trail Ninghai's flagship 100K event winds through the western mountains of Ninghai County, following ancient forest paths through primordial bamboo groves, mountain streams, and dense woodland. The course coincides with part of China's first 500-kilometer national hiking trail and passes through landscapes connected to the legendary Ming-dynasty traveler Xu Xiake, who began his 34-year journey across China from here over 400 years ago. A loop course starting and finishing at the historic West Gate, the UTNH105 climbs nearly 5,000 meters through one of East China's most pristine mountain ecosystems. With a generous 24-hour cutoff, runners travel through the forests after dark, headlamps tracing the same ridgelines and stream valleys that have drawn outdoor enthusiasts for centuries.
