A Midwest classic on the Ice Age Trail — racing the Southern Kettles since 1996
One of the oldest 100-mile races in the US, the Kettle Moraine 100 Mile has been running through Wisconsin's Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest since 1996. The course traverses two out-and-back sections covering 100+ miles, with 65 of those miles on the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. The terrain is relentlessly rolling — never steep but never flat — through oak and pine forests, open meadows, and glacial prairie. Nearly 8,800 feet of cumulative gain rewards patience over power, and summer heat, humidity, and the possibility of violent thunderstorms define the experience. Night runners encounter fireflies and often a second sunrise. The race is a Western States 100 qualifier and part of the Midwest Grand Slam of Ultra-running.
