What Makes It Great

The flagship event of Paraty Brazil by UTMB covers 108km through the Atlantic Forest between the coast and the Serra do Mar. Starting at 7pm from the cobblestone streets of the Paraty historic center, runners head inland through communities and dense forest to the highest points of the Serra da Bocaina, crossing a rolling sea of hills before summiting the iconic Pedra da Macela. The return follows the spectacular Janela do Mar viewpoint and the historic Caminho do Ouro — an 18th-century Portuguese gold-trading trail still paved with original stones — before finishing back in the UNESCO World Heritage city at dawn.
