A 33K mountain loop from Bansko into the Pirin high country and back
Route D of the Pirin Ultra weekend is a 33 km loop that starts and finishes on the Central Square in Bansko. It climbs about 870 m in the first 10 km to the Banderitsa aid station, then crosses into the Demyanitsa valley for a second aid station at the Demyanitsa hut before a long descent back to town. The total is about 1,600 m of climbing and descent with an 8-hour cutoff. It is the gentlest of the mountain distances at Pirin Ultra, but it still needs mountain insurance and a full kit of mandatory gear.
