A single clockwise loop through historic singletrack and railroad grades above the Arkansas River valley
Other trail races within 45 miles
The 25-mile event at Collegiate Peaks Trail Run completes one clockwise loop through singletrack, Midland Railroad grades, and jeep roads north and east of Buena Vista. Starting at the Community Center near the Arkansas River at 8,000 feet, the course climbs to roughly 9,400 feet and packs over 3,500 feet of gain into 25.3 miles. No pacers, crew, or drop bags are permitted — runners are fully self-supported between five aid stations. The spring creek crossing and Lenhardy Hill make this a serious mountain effort despite the modest distance.

May racing at 8,000–9,400 feet in the Sawatch Range brings cold mornings and unpredictable afternoons. Temperatures at the 6:45 AM gun typically range from the upper 20s to low 40s°F (−2 to 4°C), warming to the mid-50s to low 70s°F at valley elevations by midday. Afternoon thunderstorms are possible above 9,000 feet, and snow can remain on north-facing slopes into spring. Plan for a cold start, sun protection during midday miles, and the possibility of a quick-moving storm.
