The West Line Winder 50K winds through 30.6 miles of arid, desert-style trail in the Arkansas Valley just outside Buena Vista, Colorado — terrain that surprises runners who expect the high alpine of the Collegiate Peaks. The course crosses through San Isabel National Forest and BLM land, delivering 22 miles of buttery singletrack, 7 miles of forest and gravel road, and 1.5 miles of pavement. With 4,300 feet of gain and an average elevation of 8,500 feet, it offers genuine mountain character with an accessible difficulty profile — over half the field runs their first ultra here. The race is part of 14er Fest, a multi-day outdoor festival in Buena Vista featuring live music, vendors, and local craft beer, making it a full weekend destination for runners and their crews.
