What Makes It Great

The Tour des Cirques is a 125 km point-to-point from Piau-Engaly to Vielle-Aure, taking in three of the Pyrenees' most spectacular glacial cirques: Barroude, Gavarnie, and Estaubé. Runners descend to the base of the Grande Cascade de Gavarnie, traverse the Hourquette d'Alans, skirt the Gloriettes dam, and reach a base camp at Luz Saint-Sauveur before heading into the Néouvielle sector for the Hourquette Nère. With 7,000 m of climbing, long overnight sections, and technical mountain terrain, this is the second-hardest GRP event and requires qualifying effort points to enter.
