The course gains 3,400 feet of elevation and tops out above 13,000 feet, making it one of the more demanding half-marathon-distance trail races in the country. It follows the first portion of the 50K course and is widely considered one of the toughest races of its length in Colorado. Prior high-altitude trail running experience is strongly recommended.
