A tough granite mountain loop over Jughandle Peak from Jug Mountain Ranch
Other trail races within 189 miles
A rugged 20+ mile mountain race climbing Jughandle and Ladybug Mountains through steep cross-country slopes and a crown of granite talus fields before dropping to Louie Lake, then looping back via Twin Peaks Pass and Boulder Lake to Jug Mountain Ranch. With 5,000 feet of gain and loss on largely unmaintained terrain, it's a genuine wilderness challenge — just two aid stations in a big, lonely landscape. Runners share the finish at JMR with 100 Mile finishers still on course, making for a festive scene.
