Kaga Spa Trail Endurance 100K

Japan's first UTMB World Series event puts runners through the ancient forested mountains above Yamanaka Onsen — one of Japan's oldest hot spring towns. The 100K departs at dusk from Yukemuri Kenkou Village, sending runners into the primeval beech forests and along the ridgelines of Kanan Sanzan through the night. The course traverses Kaga City's mountain backbone via steep climbs to Mt. Kariyasu, the Kutani Dam watershed, and deep forest trails before descending into the historic spa town for a finish on the stage of the 1,300-year-old Yamanaka-za theater. Mandatory bear bells reflect the course's genuine wilderness character — wildlife including bears inhabits the entire route.
