A 70.2km loop course through the mountains of Yamanashi Prefecture, covering the latter portion of the FUJI100mi route. Named 'KAI' after the historical name for Yamanashi ('Kai no Kuni'), the race starts and finishes at Fuji Hokuroku Park GX Stadium in Fujiyoshida. After an urban and satoyama opening section, the course attacks the demanding mountain chain of Myojin, Kodate, Yamabushi Pass, Ishiwari, and Shakushiyama (1,597m) before descending through Fujiyoshida. The Yamanakako Kirara aid station marks the transition from manageable trail to unrelenting mountain terrain. No crew or private support is permitted for KAI70k participants. An ITRA National League qualifying race.
