Runners start alongside the 100-mile field in the pre-dawn darkness from Music Meadows Ranch, navigating exposed ridgelines and forested singletrack as they work toward the 11,421-foot high point at Music Pass. Crew access is limited to the start/finish at Music Meadows; pacers are permitted from mile 29.
