The course crosses the Taennchel massif with its enigmatic rock formations and ancient inscriptions, winds through Alsatian wine villages and wooded medieval castle sites, ascends to the spiritual summit of Mont Sainte-Odile, and finishes on Obernai's ramparts after passing through the Celtic Heidenkopf highland. Runners cross into the Grand Est region at Haut-Koenigsbourg, a symbolic frontier.
