What Makes It Great

A demanding 170 km single-stage ultramarathon encircling the Monte Rosa massif across the Swiss-Italian border. The route follows the classic Tour de Monte Rosa footpath anticlockwise from Grächen through Zermatt, over the Theodul Glacier into Italy, continuing through Gressoney, Alagna, Macugnaga, and over the Monte Moro Pass back into Switzerland via Saas Fee. Runners navigate the flanks of 29 four-thousand-meter summits, cross the Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge, and spend multiple nights on the trail. With a 60-hour time limit and a finish rate around 67%, it is considered more technically demanding than UTMB and takes roughly 20% longer to complete. ITRA 6-point race.
