The race that started it all — the Zugspitz Ultra Trail began in Grainau in 2011, and this 16-kilometer route through the village and surrounding trails remains a festival staple. Easy underfoot with no technical difficulties, the Grainau Trail is the entry point to the ZUT experience, welcoming first-timers and speed runners alike with 760 meters of gain and a 4-hour cutoff.
