What Makes It Great

The Arc 100 is a 100-mile point-to-point coastal ultra along Cornwall's South West Coast Path, travelling from the small fishing village of Coverack on the Lizard Peninsula to the finish at Mount Pleasant Eco Park in Porthtowan. Traversing the dramatic and exposed western tip of Cornwall in the depths of winter, the route navigates historic fishing villages, clifftops above crashing Atlantic waves, the rugged headlands of the Lizard, the iconic landmark of Land's End, and the old tin-mining landscape of West Penwith. With 5,300 metres of cumulative elevation and aid stations up to 20 miles apart, runners must be fully self-sufficient for long stretches in changing winter weather, with extended periods of running in darkness. The race is widely regarded as one of the UK's toughest 100-mile events.

Weather
Cold/Hypothermia Risk

January temperatures in Cornwall can drop below freezing overnight, particularly on exposed coastal headlands. Cold weather kit is mandatory for 2026.

Rapid Weather Changes

Cornwall in January is notorious for rapidly changing conditions — strong Atlantic winds, heavy rain, and sudden temperature drops are common across the exposed coast path.

High Wind Exposure

Coastal exposure means significant wind on open headlands, particularly around Land's End, Cape Cornwall, and Zennor Head.
