What Makes It Great

A Vertical K-style summit race that goes straight up Mt. Bachelor — no loops, no descent, just 2,700 feet of elevation gain in 3.6 miles from West Village to the 9,000-foot volcanic summit. The course climbs through mountain forest on smooth singletrack before transitioning to increasingly rocky and technical lava rock trails as it nears the summit. No aid stations on course — runners carry their own nutrition and hydration. After finishing at the summit, all participants hike 6.5 miles back down to West Village via the 16K descent route, passing through the Pine Marten aid station.
