What Makes It Great

A world-class 50-mile point-to-point that traverses the full breadth of Mt. Hood's terrain — from Ponderosa pine and juniper backcountry on the east side of the national forest all the way to volcanic scree fields at 8,000 feet on the mountain's flanks. Runners shuttle to the remote Underhill Site start and run westward through oak forests, wild meadow ridgelines, rocky historic doubletracks, and wildflower corridors before the dramatic final climb up the Wizard Trail to the 8,000-foot moraine turnaround — with adjacent glaciers and panoramic Cascade views — then a ripping descent into Mt. Hood Meadows. With 10,650 feet of climbing and fierce variety in terrain, this is one of the most demanding 50-milers in the Pacific Northwest.

Rapid Weather Changes

Cold/Hypothermia Risk

Pre-dawn 5:30AM start requires warm layers; temperatures above treeline can drop significantly regardless of valley conditions

Lightning/Thunderstorm Risk

Afternoon thunderstorms possible on exposed volcanic ridgelines above 7,000 feet
