A 29.5-mile loop climbing Steamboat's ski mountain from base to summit and back
Other trail races within 85 miles
The CDTR 50K is the flagship event of one of Colorado's most beloved community races, celebrating its 29th edition in 2026. Runners start at 7,000 ft on the Torian Plum Lawn and immediately climb over 3,400 ft in the first seven miles through aspen and pine forests to Mt. Werner Summit at 10,400 ft. From the summit, the course traverses alpine terrain to serene Long Lake before looping back via Rainbow Saddle and returning to the resort base. It's a demanding but well-organized race with sweeping views of the Yampa Valley and a strong community ethos — all proceeds go to the Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund for Routt County trails. A cupless race: runners must carry their own hydration device.
