A point-to-point traverse of the entire Istrian peninsula, from ancient Labin to the Adriatic coast
Other trail races within 139 miles
The flagship event of Istria 100 traverses the entire Istrian peninsula in a dramatic point-to-point journey from the ancient hilltop city of Labin to the coastal resort of Umag. The course climbs Učka, Istria's highest peak, before descending to Buzet where drop bags await, then winds through the inland karst landscape past medieval towns including Motovun. Runners contend with relentlessly technical limestone terrain, creek crossings, and rooty forest trails — all in a package that looks easier on the profile than it runs.

April in Istria brings classic spring conditions — mild days (10–18°C) but cold nights (5–10°C), particularly on Učka mountain and the inland karst plateau. Spring rain is common and can make limestone terrain treacherously slippery. Wind is a factor on exposed ridgelines above Učka. Runners starting the 168K at 17:00 will spend their first overnight in colder conditions before warming conditions return the following day.
April spring rains are common across Istria; wet limestone rock becomes extremely slippery on technical descents
Nighttime temperatures can drop to 5°C or below, especially at elevation on Učka mountain; mandatory gear list addresses this
Conditions can change quickly in spring; Učka summit is significantly cooler and windier than coastal areas
