Dogs are not permitted on the grounds of the Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp. Please do not bring a dog into any aid station. If you have a dog, please keep it away from the runners, the aid station itself, and the volunteers in the aid station.
Race organizers request that dogs are not brought to the event.
Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp offers cabin bunks, sukkah cots, and tent/car camping at the start/finish area. Reservations made via the race website.
Mid-May in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley brings warm days and cool nights. Expect temperatures of 55–75°F during daylight hours, dropping to 40–55°F overnight on the exposed ridgelines. Spring thunderstorms are possible, and rain can make the already technical rocky terrain especially treacherous. Humidity is moderate to high. Runners will experience all conditions over the 24–36 hour window — warm afternoon sun, cool night air at elevation, and potentially wet trail surfaces.
