A brutal point-to-point slog along Arizona's Mogollon Rim — a 200-mile geological escarpment that rises 2,000 feet above the surrounding landscape. The 100 Mile course climbs the Rim six separate times on grades reaching 30–45%, running on the historic Highline Trail through thick manzanita, rock gardens, and chest-high ferns before dropping back into canyon terrain. The elevation range of 5,300–8,000 ft means runners move through high Sonoran Desert into the largest contiguous Ponderosa Pine forest in the world. September's monsoon season adds real lightning and hail risk, and the technical terrain keeps finish rates around 58%.

All 100 Mile entrants must have completed at minimum a 50-mile race before race day.
8 hours of volunteer work at any trail or race organization before race day — not required to be in Arizona. Runners unable to complete the hours may donate $100 to a partner trail organization instead.

Dispersed camping available at the Old Pine Parking Lot, approximately 2 miles south of Pine. Tree-lined edges suitable for tent camping. Vehicles can remain all weekend. Shuttles to the start also depart from this lot.
