A map-and-compass 100K through the remote North Cascades — no aid, no markings
Other trail races within 141 miles
The first of Plain's two loops, this 100K option traverses the core of the North Cascades backcountry without aid stations, course markings, or pacers. Starting at Deep Creek Campground, runners carry all their gear and navigate by map through approximately 10,500 feet of elevation gain — climbing from the Chiwawa River valley up to 6,834-foot Klone Peak before descending to the finish at Deep Creek. The 100K also serves as a qualifying race for the Plain 100 Mile. No experience with self-supported backcountry running should be underestimated here.
