Australia's favourite first ultra along the spectacular Great Ocean Road
Other trail races within 200 miles
The Surf Coast Century 100km is widely celebrated as Australia's ideal first ultra, threading through some of the country's most spectacular coastal landscapes along the Great Ocean Road. Four distinct legs carry runners from Anglesea Main Beach to Torquay along clifftop singletrack and the legendary sands of Bells Beach, back through the flowing Eumeralla hinterland trails, out to the remote wildflower-lined climbs of Heartbreak Hill and Currawong Falls, and finally home via the iconic Split Point Lighthouse and Urquharts Beach. With just 1,820m of gain over 100km and 7 fully-stocked checkpoints accessible to support crews, this is as runnable and well-supported as a century gets. Relay teams of 2, 3, or 4 runners can also participate, each covering one of the four legs.
