The classic Telluride loop over Tomboy Mine and the Ajax-to-Telluride Peak ridgeline
Other trail races within 61 miles
The classic Telluride Mountain Run 24 Mile loops through some of the most spectacular high terrain above Telluride — through Bear Creek Preserve, across the stunning ridgeline from Ajax Peak to Telluride Peak, and past the ruins of Tomboy, an abandoned silver mining town that once housed 2,000 residents. Runners spend the majority of the race above 10,000 feet and cross above 13,000 feet twice, covering jeep roads, alpine singletrack, and a loose, exposed high ridge traverse. With 9,000 feet of gain in 24 miles, this is an outstanding mountain running challenge for experienced ultra runners not ready to tackle the longer distances.
