53km through iconic Tuscan scenery — rolling hills, cypress trees, and medieval villages
A 53km loop through the 'Classic Valdorcia' — the most visually iconic section of the Tuscany Crossing route. Starting in Castiglione d'Orcia, the course climbs to the Rocca di Tentennano fortress (the race landmark), drops to the thermal town of Bagno Vignoni, continues through San Quirico d'Orcia and the Gladiator film location landscapes near Pienza, then rolls through Monticchiello before returning via the panoramic Via Agogna. Despite the seemingly gentle Tuscan terrain, constant undulation and full sun exposure on open gravel roads make this a genuine test. Awards 2 ITRA points and is listed on the UTMB Index.
