110 km overnight loop across Corsica's highest alpine passes and glacial lakes
The Ultra-Trail di Corsica is a 110 km overnight loop through the heart of Corsica's wilderness, setting out from the ancient hilltop town of Corte at 11 PM and climbing into the island's most remote mountain terrain. Runners navigate deep granite gorges, ancient shepherds' trails past isolated sheepfolds, and glacial lakes set in high alpine cirques before crossing Bocca Crucetta at 2,415 m — one of Corsica's highest accessible passes — with views across to Monte Cintu, the island's summit at 2,706 m. Pine forests, scree fields, and technical ridgelines define the upper course before a long descent returns runners to Corte as dawn breaks. With 7,200 m of elevation gain and a 48-hour window, this race tests both physical endurance and mountain competence.
