What Makes It Great

West Coast rainforest trails, lakeside singletrack, and the exposed Diez Vistas ridgeline combine for one of Canada's most celebrated 50K experiences. Running continuously since 1997 through Belcarra Regional Park near Vancouver, the race packs 2,000m of climbing into a scenic loop around Buntzen Lake and Sasamat Lake — through roots, rocks, and mud typical of the Pacific Northwest. The namesake Diez Vistas trail traverses an exposed ridge with sweeping panoramic views of the Vancouver area before the course drops back into dense coastal rainforest for a final punishing climb back to White Pine Beach. Strict mid-course cutoffs, a cupless format, a volunteer crew many of whom have been giving back since 1997, and legendary post-race sushi and BBQ all define the character of this beloved race.
