Seven thousand feet of climbing in the old mercury-mining hills above San Jose
Other trail races within 125 miles
The longest race of the day links repeated climbs through Almaden Quicksilver County Park, the oak-and-grassland hills of the old New Almaden mercury mining district. Runners leave the Hacienda entrance and make several trips between the Hacienda, Mockingbird and Woods parking lot aid stations, mostly on wide dirt roads, piling up more than 7,000 ft of climbing. Staged time checks keep the field moving inside a 9-hour limit.
