A lollipop course combining Pacific Crest Trail singletrack with a counterclockwise loop around Timothy Lake, the Mt Hood Trail Runs 50K heads north from the Clackamas Lake Historic Ranger Station, joins the PCT past Forest Road 58 to Frog Lake, returns partway south, then breaks onto the Timothy Lake trail for a scenic lake circuit before finishing at the ranger station. The trail is largely shaded by big trees with outstanding Mt. Hood views and generally soft footing with some technical sections.

Mid-July in the Mt. Hood National Forest at 3,000–4,500 ft. Morning 7am start in mild conditions, 45–55°F (7–13°C), warming to 65–78°F (18–26°C) by midday. The course is mostly shaded by old-growth forest on the PCT sections and around Timothy Lake. Pacific Northwest summer weather is generally stable but afternoon mountain thunderstorms are possible.
