What Makes It Great

A 103km loop from Castiglione d'Orcia covering the 'Classic Valdorcia' and 'Mountain Valdorcia' sections of the Tuscany Crossing route. The course passes the landmark Rocca di Tentennano fortress, descends to the iconic thermal pool of Bagno Vignoni, traverses UNESCO-listed landscapes through Pienza and San Quirico d'Orcia, and climbs to the high point at Vivo d'Orcia (1,050m). The route follows the white gravel roads (strade bianche) and singletrack that define the Val d'Orcia. An official ITRA event awarding 4 points and a certified Western States 100 qualifier for finishers within 21 hours. Also on the UTMB Index.
