The course crosses creek drainages near Whitney Portal, passes through dramatic granite formations made famous by countless Hollywood Westerns, and features expansive views of Mt. Whitney and the Inyo Mountains. With 12 aid stations and specific crew-access checkpoints, it is a well-supported but demanding mountain ultra.
