What Makes It Great

The Leona Divide 100 Mile, inaugurated in 2024, takes runners on a grueling 100-mile journey along the Pacific Crest Trail north of Los Angeles, gaining over 16,000 feet through chaparral, oak woodland, and high-desert terrain of the Angeles National Forest. Starting and finishing at the Lake Hughes Community Center, the course traverses PCT singletrack in a complex multi-pass route, returning through key sections multiple times across two days of racing. Aid stations are plentiful but cell service is nearly nonexistent — crews must download offline maps and navigate to designated hike-in stations. As a Western States Endurance Run qualifier (33-hour cutoff), the race draws competitive ultrarunners seeking both a grueling challenge and a coveted California qualifier.
