Starting from Monistrol-d'Allier and its iconic Eiffel-designed metal bridge spanning the Allier gorges, the Grand Trail covers 86 km through the heart of the Haute-Loire countryside. The route climbs immediately to the Rochegude peak, winds past the Bouchet volcanic lake, crosses Mont Devès plateau, and navigates the Chibottes scree fields before a final cathedral ascent into Le Puy-en-Velay.
