What Makes It Great

Hood Hundred is a 100-mile mountain trail run circling Mt. Hood's high country and dryer eastern backcountry on a lollipop-style course staged at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Area. The route follows a 20-mile outbound stem to a 60-mile figure-eight loop, then returns 20 miles along the ridgeline to the finish. The first half is surprisingly fast and runnable; the back half turns sneaky tough with sustained climbing and more technical terrain. With 17,300 feet of gain, 14 aid stations, and 9 crew-accessible checkpoints reachable by paved roads, the race combines professional event production with strong community support. A portion of proceeds benefits 44 Trails, the all-volunteer nonprofit managing Mt. Hood's east-side trail network.

Race Highlights

Mt. Hood's signature high route
100 miles through volcanic backcountry, alpine ridgelines, and the less-traveled east side of the mountain — all starting and finishing under the summit
82 miles of singletrack
Mostly smooth dirt trail with intermittent rocky and technical sections across wildly diverse Mt. Hood terrain
9 crew-accessible aid stations
Every station reachable by paved road within 30 minutes of the venue; a unique YELLOW/GREEN crew group system keeps it organized
2027 Western States Qualifier
Sub-34-hour finishers earn a qualifying spot for the Western States Endurance Run lottery
Stewardship is mandatory
All starters must complete 8 hours of trail or race volunteering before the gun goes off — proceeds benefit 44 Trails on Mt. Hood's east side

Finish Awards

All finishers receive a custom metal belt buckle commemorating their achievement.
Podium Award
Top podium finishers receive a handcrafted award made by the race directors, presented at a Sunday awards ceremony.
