No dogs running with a runner or pacer, and no pets in aid station tents. A crew's dog must stay in the vehicle, near the runner's personal aid spot, or on a leash with a crew member.
Cheaha State Park, at the finish, has improved sites for tents and RVs, rustic camping, glamping and cabins. Coleman Lake Campground sits across from the Coleman Lake aid station, with no cell reception. The start at Mill Creek has no listed camping.
March in north Georgia and Alabama can bring heat, cold, rain, high winds, hail and severe thunderstorms, and conditions can change fast. Runners should plan for warm afternoons and cold, wet nights in the same race.
The race warns that mountain storms arrive with little notice and temperatures can drop sharply.
Runners can become hypothermic far from an aid station, so a rain jacket and space blanket are required.
